The head of a finance department plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing and managing the financial activities within an organization. Their main functions include:

1. Strategic Financial Planning: They develop and execute the company’s financial strategy, ensuring that it aligns with overall business goals and objectives.

2. Budgeting and Forecasting: They create and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and forecast future financial trends to guide decision-making.

3. Financial Reporting: They ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial statements to senior management and stakeholders.

4. Cash Flow Management: They monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring that there is enough liquidity to meet operational needs and growth opportunities.

5. Risk Management: They identify financial risks and work to mitigate them through strategies such as hedging or insurance.

6. Compliance and Controls: They ensure that financial practices comply with regulations and industry standards, while implementing internal controls to prevent fraud and errors.

7. Team Leadership and Development: They manage and develop the finance team, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and resources to perform effectively.

8. Stakeholder Communication: They communicate financial information to stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and senior management, providing insights and recommendations for business decisions.

Overall, the head of the finance department is responsible for maintaining the financial health of the organization, guiding its financial strategy, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

What we’re looking for
  • Financial Management or related course
  • Must have at least five years (5) managerial work experience from retail companies and related industries.
  • Technology savvy, must be proficient in using financial software.
  • With above-average oral and written communication skills
  • Numerate, must be analytical and with good problem-solving skills
  • Can think logically and pay keen attention to details
  • Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills
